Here is the latest update from Bishop Martyn about the Shaped By God Together process. I hope you find it helpful and informative.
Congratulations to Sally Allen who was elected as Churchwarden at Tuesday evening’s Annual Meeting. Revd Colin said, “Sally has served as churchwarden for a number of years and I am delighted that she has agreed to continue in this role and has the support of Swithland parishioners.” There is still one vacancy for Churchwarden and anyone interested should, in the first instance, have a conversation with either Sallly or Colin to find out more.
On the same evening, Mrs Val Capewell and Mr Jeff Harrison were elected as members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) to serve for three years. Mrs Mary Toone and Mrs Laura Wareing left the PCC, their terms of office coming to an end. There is one vacancy on the PCC at this time, and anyone interested in becoming a member should speak with Revd Colin.
Other appointments made on the evening include:
Thanks were expressed to all who had maintained the life and ministry of St Leonard’s Church throughout 2019 and into this turbulent year; and prayers were offered for the future work and ministry of the parish. Copies of the annual report are still available on this website and in the Church porch.
St Leonard’s Church will be holding the deferred annual meeting on Tuesday 13th October at 7pm. Because of the current Covid-19 restrictions, this will be a virtual meeting held over zoom. At this meeting, parishioners will appoint two Churchwardens, elect two members of the Church to sit on the Deanery Synod and three members to serve on the St Leonard’s Parochial Church Council (PCC). We will also receive the annual report and answer any questions you may have about the life of our Church here in Swithland.
Nomination forms for Churchwarden and PCC membership will be available in the Church porch and completed forms should be returned to Revd Colin Resch before the start of the meeting. If you would like an informal chat about the role of Churchwarden or PCC member, please contact Revd Colin Resch on 0116 429 9946.
To join the meeting, you will need to visit https://zoom.us and enter Meeting ID: 881-8680-5812 and Passcode: 906124 when prompted. You can also join by phone by dialling 0203 481 5240 and entering the same ID and passcode when prompted.
Copies of the agenda, previous minutes and the annual report are available by clicking here.

By now you’ve hopefully heard of the “Shaped by God Together” process the diocese has embarked on, and are probably aware of the Call to Prayer from Bishops Martyn and Guli. Here’s a video that uses an everyday metaphor to explain the process. You can send in your story, observation or anecdote by following this link: https://tinyurl.com/y3ujkw5r
Here is this morning’s recording of Sunday Worship from Swithland & Mountsorrel. The service is led by Mr Edmund Stacey and the preacher is Revd Darren Walker.
