Funerals
When someone we love dies, whether that death is expected or comes suddenly, there is a lot to do in a relatively short space of time. One of the most pressing tasks facing the bereaved is to arrange a funeral service. This is where the church can offer a lot of help and advice.
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. This can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.
Anyone who lives in the parish of Swithland is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in the churchyard by the local parish priest regardless of whether they attended church or not. Occasionally, it is possible for someone to be buried in one of our churchyards even if the deceased person was not a resident. Please contact us using the form below or ask your funeral director to do so on your behalf if you prefer.
Even if you were looking for cremation, or a burial elsewhere, you can still have a funeral service in Church first.
